New agreement enables talented undergraduates to empower their learning in real business environments.
The University of Kelaniya has made an agreement with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sri Lanka (FCCISL) to work with the Department of Industrial Management (DIM) of the Faculty of Science to develop a formal programme to fast-track the new talent of Sri Lanka into exciting workplace environments to hone their academic learning into practical experience.
Mr Ajith Wattuhewa President of the FCCISL and Prof.Sunanada Madduma Bandara Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya signed the agreement. The essence of the DIMs Teaching Company programme augments their already established internship syllabus. With the co-operation of FCCISL there will be an active focused long – term partnership with businesses to provide opportunities for their undergraduates to participate in field visits, conduct mini projects, develop case materials, and have the chance to listen to seasoned industrial staff lecture in an integrative manner and share experiences in areas of management and information technology. This scheme, called The Teaching Company, will be managed through its Enterprise Initiative activities under the HETC Window 2 project of the Ministry of higher education.
