                                           Workshop on Family Business & Entrepreneurship
Workshop on Family Business and Entrepreneurship organized by Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) together with AMAN Centre for Entrepreneurial Development(CED) in Pakistan was held on 26th, 27th and 28th May at Hotel Renuka. The aforesaid event is partly sponsored by Colombo Plan.
Around 20 entrepreneurs including 08 Pakistan participants took part for this workshop. The participant are Family business owners from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, CEOs of family businesses and Scholars/researchers on entrepreneurship from Sri Lanka and Pakistan etc.
His Excellency Maj. Gen. (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain, the Pakistan High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Dr.Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Sipra (Deputy Head of Mission – Pakistan) Mr. Sankha Gamage (Programme Officer – Colombo Plan) Mr. Sarath Kahapalaarachchi (President – FCCISL), Mr. Armil Sammoon (Director – FCCISL) and Mr. Ruwan De Silva (Director – FCCISL) attended for the opening ceremony.
Commenting on the work shop H E Maj. Gen. (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain said its heartening to see that in consequent to an agreement signed on eve of the Pakistan priminister’s visit to Sri Lanka early this year the FCCISL moves forward with the intention of setting up an entrepreneurial development institute in Colombo with the support of AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development in Pakistan.
According to the spokesman of FCCISL the objective of the workshop is to help the participants to explore and discover their entrepreneurial potential and this would also act as a stepping stone to establish a fully fledged institute for entrepreneurial development sri lanka. Dr. Shahid Qureshi and Dr. Imran Khan from AMAN CED conducted the workshop which include several guest lecturers from Sri Lanka and a field trip. Participants visited Korean SPA (Pvt) Ltd factory at Panadura on day 2.
Mr. Hasan Ali Zaigham (First Secretary – Pakistan High Commission) and Mr. Sarath Kahapalaarachchi (President – FCCISL) attended for the closing ceremony.
FCCISL and AMAN Centre for Entrepreneurial Development in Pakistan hope to organize various training programmes of this nature in Sri Lanka, in near future through the proposed entrepreneurial centre which will be established in Colombo in near future.
