FCCIS Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 calls on President Rajapakse.
Samantha Kumarasinghe, Chairman, Multichemi Group – makers of Nature Secret cosmetics who was adjudged the Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) made a courtesy call on President Mahinda Rajapakse at Temple Trees.
Mr Kumarasinghe was accompanied by Kosala Wickramanayake, President, FCCISL.
President Rajapakse was happy that Mr Kumarasinghe was adjudged The FCCISL Entrepreneur of the Year and greatly appreciated the contribution made by Mr Kumarasinghe’s Nature Secret products to the country’s industry and to the economy.
President Rajapakse said that Mr Kumarasinghe’s promoting Nature Secret brands locally and internationally, should be emulated by other Sri Lankan entrepreneurs too in promoting Sri Lankan products internationally so that maximum revenue for our products could be obtained.
Mr Kumarasinghe said that the rate of interest in obtaining loans in Sri Lanka is very high and it impedes further development of industry and businesses. He pointed out that as the country’s inflation is coming down, interest rates too should also scale down and urged to instruct the Finance Ministry to intervene.
President Rajapakse assured that he would look into the matter and see what possibilities are open to accommodate such relief.
President Rajapakse expressed his deep appreciation on the tremendous work the FCCISL renders, especially in assisting the Micro, Small and Medium scale entrepreneurs. He assured all possible assistance to FCCISL to develop the SME sector and told FCCISL President, Mr Wickramanayake to work closely with the government agencies in promoting export, industrial and entrepreneurships.
Tissa Jayaweera, Senior Vice President, FCCISL and Kumar Mallimaratchi, Vice President, FCCISL were also present in the delegation to meet President Rajapakse.
