FCCISL Signs with China Council to Promote Trade between Two Countries

A delegation from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade ShanghaiPudong Sub-Council of Shanghai Pudong Chamber of International Commerce visitedFederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) on Monday,4th April 2011. Establishedin September 1993, Shanghai Pudong Sub-Council is one of China Councils for thePromotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The CCPIT aims at promotingactivities of trade, investment and cooperation in economy and technologybetween china and other countries and regions all over the world, so as toenhance the mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and people fromother countries and regions as well as economic and trade circles.

Thedelegation which comprised 10 members represented manufacturing and marketingof furniture, glassware, LAD chips, wedding dresses and automobile industriesand was headed by Mr. Chen Bing Hui, Chairman of CCPIT. The delegation madefruitful discussions with Mr. Tissa Jayaweera – President, Board members andsenior officials of FCCISL.

Duringthe discussion, interest was shown in investing in Sri Lanka, and Mr. Jayaweeraexplained current opportunities in the country with a specifically emphasis onbooming industries, market forces and labour market standards. A Cooperation Agreement was signed by thePresident of FCCISL and Chairman of CCPIT in order to facilitate tradepromotions between two countries.
