International Conference on Benchmarking Sri Lanka’s Trade Facilitation Systems & Processes
The international conference on Benchmarking Sri Lanka’s Trade Facilitation Systems and Processes marks the final event in the exercise of examining and analyzing the needs in the systems and methods of Trade Facilitation.
The spectrum of activity in the connection began early this year when the Federation sought the assistance of the Commonwealth Secretariat in conducting a study and lending assistance to one of the most important needs of the country in terms of improving the procedures and systems connected to international Trade.
This was followed by a series of interactive sessions with the principal government agencies involved in Trade Facilitation as well as the main stake holders in the Private sector associated with International Trade. As a consequence there emerged an excellent plan for technical assistance to benchmark Sri Lanka’s current Trade Facilitation practices.
At this stage, it is necessary to mention that the Commonwealth Secretariat obtained the services of CrimsonLogic a well known consultancy company based in Singapore who have been associated with the development of Trade Facilitation services in various parts of the world.
The ultimate result of the combined effort of the these three institutions namely the Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Sri Lanka, the Commonwealth Secretariat and CrimsonLogic, we believe enabled a true understanding of the actual needs of the country in this regard. Today’s Workshop marks the culmination of these efforts. We trust all stake holders will accept the final findings of this study to take Trade Facilitation towards a new era for the ultimate benefit of the country.
